Goodbye 2016

2016, at least the second half of it, has been dire, so I am not sorry to see it coming to an end. Things have improved here and we are hoping they will continue to do so.

Many thanks for all the good wishes and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a trouble-free 2017.

  1. Here’s my friend Chris Code’s end of year poem:

I’m looking for another species to join.

I’m looking for another species to join.
    But would they have me,
    given the record of humanity?

Working with bees in a hive of a community
Would be nice, but would I steal the honey,
    given the record of humanity?

I couldn’t be an owl. It would be hard for them to see
Sufficient wisdom in the likes of me,
    given the record of humanity.

A graceful a pod of dolphins traversing the sea
Would feel naught but pity for one with such a tiny brain as me,
    given the record of humanity.

Even a pack of hyenas would think twice before welcoming me,
Knowledge of my violent ways would precede me,
    given the record of humanity.

I’m looking for another species to join.
    But none would have me,
    given the record of humanity?
