The movie clip is of an aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis). a lemur native to Madagascar. It is is increasingly threatened as a species, not only because of habitat, but also because of local fear of the animal as an evil creature. Supposedly it is a harbinger of death, and some Madagascans believe it actually enters houses at night and kills the inhabitants by puncturing the aorta using its long middle finger.

The Lemur Centre at Duke University, NC, which is where the movie clip originated, has a campaign to make people more aware of the plight of aye-ayes and lemurs in general.
