One thing one can safely say about such words is that the beginning is never pronounced <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">bi\u02d0\u0259\u028a<\/span>. The &lt;i&gt; always represents the diphthong <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">a\u026a<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In a few words the second part of the prefix bears the main stress of the word and the pronunciation is <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">ba\u026a\u02c8\u0252<\/span>. Here are some examples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>biography biology bionic<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Notice the pronunciation of <em>biographical <\/em>= <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">\u02ccba\u026a\u0259\u02c8\u0261r\u00e6f\u026akl<\/span> and <em>biological <\/em>= <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">\u02ccba\u026a\u0259\u02c8l\u0252d\u0292\u026akl<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In some other words it is the <em>first <\/em>syllable of the prefix which bears the main stress.
