Here are some examples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>hypocorism hypostasis hypotenuse hypothesis hypothesise hypoxia<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are a few words where it is the first syllable of the sequence that bears the main stress. In these cases the pronunciation is <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">\u02c8ha\u026ap\u0259(\u028a)<\/span>. Examples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>hypocaust hypocentre hyponym hypostyle<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sometimes the first syllable of the sequence bears a secondary stress. Examples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>hypoallergenic hypochondria hypodermic hypogeal hypotactic hypotaxis hypothermia hypothetical hypothyroid<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the last two cases if the sound after the sequence is a consonant, the second vowel of the sequence is either <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">\u0259\u028a<\/span> or <span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">\u0259<\/span>.
