Petr Rösel points out that the word hangar is pronounced ˈhæŋə by some speakers, even though the ending is not a suffix as it is in the word hanger. He also points out that there is a similar situation with the word longish. He is right. There are a couple of other words for which some people have a ɡ and others don’t. Dinghy and gingham are the ones I can think of.
