:Pseudo-elision:

The deletion of a sound leaving behind some trace of its former presence. An example from English is the pronunciation of the word university as ˌjuːnɪˈvɜːsːti. The vowel of the penultimate syllable has disappeared, but the preceding fricative has been lengthened, making the ending of the word different from, say, thirsty ˈθɜːsti where no deletion has taken place.
